Is this system similar to the KCI Tricell First Step?
Similar but not the same. The low air loss mattress is for preventing and healing early stage bedsores at much lower cost for home care purposes.
My son has a Therapy Low Pressure Mattress and it helps so much. The problem he is having is the air tubes separate and his butt falls in between them so by morning he has sunk to the bottom. What mattress do you suggest to prevent this problem?
You may want to find out if your mattress has gone bad. A mattress with only low air loss function may cause this problem as we know. You may consider the following model that offers both alternating pressure and low air loss. This model has worked well for our customers without any complaint like that.

We have power outages from time to time. Will this bed stay inflated and for how long. Do you have any provisions within the mattress to prevent bottoming out? Patients weight is right at 300 lbs. can this bed be set at a steady pressure as well as the therapeutic variable pressure? Thanks Walt Bateman
This model 930 is a low air loss mattress overlay. It needs to put on top of a foam or innerspring mattress to prevent damage by bed frame and also prevent bottom out when there is a power outage. However, since the patient is very close to the weight capacity limit which is 300 lbs for this model. It may not be appropriate for the patient.

Your better choice is the following model that has 450 lbs weight capacity and cell in a cell design to prevent the mattress from bottoming on the bed in the event of power failure.

how much would replacement pump cost? can they be repaired?
Sorry, we do not repair. We do sell replacement pumps for certain models but we need to make sure that your model is what we carry so that our pump can work with your mattress.
What do I need to set up a bed for my husband? We currently have a hospital bed and would like to replace the mattress with an low flow air mattress. He has hot spots at this time and am trying to prevent them from going into bed sores.
This mattress will help prevent bed sore for your husband. You can put this on top of your currently foam or innerspring mattress to use. Another option is to get an alternating pressure mattress with low air loss that can be used standalone. So you do not need another mattress underneath. This following one is such a mattress.

What is the weight limit on this mattress?
The weight capacity is 450 lbs.
Does this mattress require full guardrails? Nursing home only has half rails. Is there anything I need to check (re: the bed frame, etc.), before we would purchase a mattress?
This mattress can be used with any types of standard hospital beds and regular twin size home style beds. It can work with both of half rails and full rails. The only thing to consider is to need a regular mattress (foam or innerspring) or even a pad to use under it since this is a mattress overlay that needs a little more support. For example, you can get the following eggcrate mattress pad to work together if you do not have such a mattress to use.

Will this mattress fit a normal size hospital bed in Australia. Is this mattress for high risk patients. Does the power source fit Australia's power source. How often do the cells need to be replaced. What warranty do you give for the mattress. What assurance will you give our client when she sends the money.
This mattress is 80" x 36" that is international standard size. We have customers from Europe and Asia using this mattress with no sizing problems. The mattress is used to prevent and heal bedsores up to stage II for bedridden patients. We will make the power source converted to 220 volt with converter added before we ship it out. You just need to tell us if you use 3 pin or 2 pin for your plug in your country.

We have sold this to many customers and never had any air leaking problems within 5 years. In your case, you can buy 1 or 2 extra air cells just in case. Our mattress is under 1 year warranty for the parts.

Our company has been doing business with thousands of customers. We shipped to customers world wide including those from Europe, Asia, Middle East and North America in the same way. Our US Federal Business Identification Number is 26-0091903. We assure you that we will send you the product after we receive the payment.
Is this a complete unit and is not used?
This is a complete brand new unit (not including the hospital bed that is for demonstration purpose only). We only carry new products not used at all.
Is it true that this mattress can be used over a regular bed mattress or do you have to have a box spring to lay it on?
It is the best to use it on top of an existing mattress.
Do you ship to Canada
Yes, we do ship to Canada.
Do you have a size larger than 80" by 36". I could use a 80" by 42".
For wider alternating pressure mattress, you can consider: http://ucanhealth.com/goto.php?page=detail.php&graph1=940
This bed is 80" x 42".
It appears there are two basic types of mattresses. What are they, and what is the difference? Is there an advantage of one over the other?
Yes, there are two types of mattress cells. Since the mattress offer low air loss and the air blows out from come cells, some cells contain holes others don't. So when you order replacement cells, you need to know which type of cells to replace.

The difference is that one type cell provides low air loss and the other does not. A funtional mattress like this needs both cells.
does the patient still need to be turned every 2 hors at night with the use of this product? For skin reasons?
The mattress provides effective pressure relief to prevent bedsores and therefore free caregivers from labor intensive care job. But whether or not the patient still needs to be turned and how frequently it should be really depend on the situation of the patient.

For example, if the patient has not yet developed sores or the sores are at early stages (less than II), he / she may not need to be turned or at least not so frequently. With the use of the mattress, turning is needed much less frequently than without.

But if the sores are at advanced stages, you may need to consider other mattresses that covers wider range of sores such as up to IV for more effective pressure relief.
