Is the seat soft or firm? The last chair my mom had was very hard and uncomfortable. Is there a showroom where we could try out the chairs?

The seat is not firm. It is moderately soft. In terms of showroom, where are you located?
Does the jr. petite come in stop anywhere position?
You may be talking about infinite position. This Jr Petite model is only available with 3 position model. It comes with one motor controlling the back and footrest that move together. While the infinite position comes with two motors controlling the back and footrest respectively. If you need infinite position, you can consider small size.
