My mom is 96...has an alternating pressure bed....
but would rather sleep in her recliner. Unfortunately..
that does not prevent bed sores. We cannot afford your chair...but is there a way we can buy a less expensive mattress for her recliner. I dont think medicare will pay for it since they already paid for the bed. Am I right
The 550 air pressure recliner provides integrated system for the alternating pressure mattress and recliner. If you can not afford this product, you can consider the lest expensive bedside air pressure relief air chair that can convert a chair into an alternating pressure system. The downside is that this will not integrate as well as the model 550. But it saves you much. No it is not covered by medicare as described on the website.
Can this chair "Pressure Relief Recliner 550 Air Chair w/ Controller" be used to transfer a patient in a van?
The pressure relief air recliner chair is designed to prevent or heal bedsores when patient is in sitting position for a long time. You may be able to use it for transfer patient depending on your situation. But it is not designed mainly for that purpose. You may consider a mobile air chair used on a wheelchair to cover both purposes of pressure relief and mobile for transferring patient. In terms of transferring patient to or from a van, you may need to consider to use a ramp or wheelchair lift or a patient lift device in order to move the patient on wheelchair.
is this a lift chair with a controller that the patient can elevate?
This is a recliner that can recline back but not lift up. There is no such a lift recliner chair with alternating pressure relief system. You may consider bedside air chair that can turn most regular chair to an alternating pressure relief system. But the seat has to be hard surface for the air cushion to work appropriately.
What are the sizes of the seat and the footrest? I need to know the size of the foot rest once the chair is fully reclined. I sleep in a recliner so can not have my feet handing over the rest.
The seat is about 18" deep and 22" wide and the legrest is 20" wide and 22.5" long when fully extended for the air pressure recliner chair.
The alternating pressure air cushion is built integrated with the recliner chair for best performance.
Is there any other colors from this chair.
