my father is moving into an apartment that has standard height tub side to climb over he has a problem lifting his legs to get into and out of the shower is there a particular item you could recommend to help him get in and out of the shower. Chris Martinson
All of the sliding transfer benches are designed to help patients like your father to get into tub safely and easily. You just need to go through the models to determine which functions and features (swivel or non-swivel seat, molded or padded, with or without cutout seat) you want. Also depending on your tub and bathroom size, you may determine if you need regular size, long size or extra long size.
What is the height from the floor to the where the chair slides? I want to make sure that the chair will be able to clear the sides of our bathtub.
The required clearance for the bench is 18" from the floor.
What is the HCPC CODE one this item?
Thanks
Raine
There is no HCPC code for this type of products since medicare does not cover them. You have to pay by yourself.
How wide are the legs on this bench?
Please read the description and specifications on the website for details. The sizes are Base Width: 36.75" - 37.5"; Base Depth: 18.25" - 19"
I am unsure if this product will work in our tub. The outside wall height (floor to top edge) is 19". However, the floor of the tub (inside) is only approximately 13" from the top edge of tub (tub depth). Can the inside legs be adjusted shorter than outside legs? I was also considering the tub mount model, but am also unsure if the dimensions are compatible.
Yes, the legs of the bench are adjustable with 0.5" increments. Therefore, you can make the legs inside shorter than those outside. The tubmount models will not work for your tub since the minimum required clearance is 14" which means that 13" height of your tub from inside floor to the top edge is not enough.
Based on the measurement, you will need a leg extension to extend the legs outside the tub since the highest clearance under the frame is 18". The following x tall leg extensions can raise the bench extra 4".
My tub width is 27". Rail length on this Transfer Bench is 29.625". Do I order by Rail Length or Base Width, which is 36.75".
You need to order based on the base width which is 36.75".
The height of the bathtub from floor to top of tub is 20.5 inches. Will this product fit my tub or are their leg extensions that are needed.
The tub edge is too height for this sliding transfer bench that require 18" clearance under the frame. You need to get a leg extension as below to raise it up. However, the addition of the leg extension will lower the weight capacity for up to 100 lbs. As a result, the bench will be only 300 lbs weight capacity. Please take this into consideration.
Yes, all of the sliding transfer bench come with suction tips at the bottom. The gray colored ones shown on the picture are suction tips.
I would like to know how much this item weighs and how long does standard shipping take.
The package weighs about 20 lbs. Depending on your location, it may take 1-6 business days by standard ground shipping. The product will be shipped out in the same day if order is placed before 2:30 pm PST. Order placed after this time will be shipped in the following day.
Model 37662 could this entire unit be lifted and placed inside the tub when not in use. The inside width of the bottom of my tub is approximately 19 inches.
Yes, you can store the bench in the tub when not using it. In fact, some customers did this way. The depth of the bench at base is 18.25" - 19". So it should fit in your tub that is about 19" wide at the bottom for storage.
Is there a model with the sliding swivel seat that also has a Cut-out for perineal washing access?
I AM INTERESTED IN THE #37662 MODEL.BUT IT LISTS A #31780 UNDER IT. IS THIS THE HANDLE AT THE END. IF SO, IS IT NOT INCLUDED WITH BENCH PURCHASE?
The handle on the frame as show on the picture comes with the bench. The item 31780 refers to an optional handle that can be installed on the seat side which is not on the picture. It helps elderly people to feel balanced. The bench works well without it.
I am looking to purchase #37662 which is the upgrade from the #31662. Your web page shows the swivel chair with the older version #31662 on the top picture that shows the swivel position while the picture of the chair in the tub shows the newer version (#37662)that has the upgraded orange locking tabs. If I order this swivel chair, which version will be shipped. Thanks.
Sorry for the confusion. You will get newer model when ever there is a modification. The older model will always be replaced if a newer model exists.
Can the seat be locked at 45 degrees? Can the seat slide while positioned at 45 degrees, to enable someone to squeeze through a narrow 21" wide shower doorway?
The seat can be locked on at 90 degrees. The bench can slide with the seat positioned at 45 degrees unlocked. But it is better to slide the seat at its 90 degree positions for safety reasons. In your case, you can consider to slide first and then swivel. This is how some other users in similar cases handle the bench.
How does a shower curtain work in conjunction with this item?
As you can see, only the two rails of the bench are over the edge of the tub. You need to manage the soft shower curtain to go in between and outside the rails so the water will not overflow to outside the tub. It is a lot easier to do so with the sliding transfer bench than a regular non-sliding transfer bench that has the whole bench seat over the tub edge.
Can the seat on item 37662 be mounted on either side of unit so that the hand hold would be on the right side of unit when it's facing forward?
Yes, the seat can turn 360 degrees and lock every 90 degrees. So it can face either way.
Do you take medicare?
None of the bathroom safety products are covered by medicare.
